Broadway Rose offers classes for all ages and skill levels

While it may not be back to school for adults, it’s never too late to keep learning! Broadway Rose’s fall adult dance classes occur from September through November, and are a great way to get moving and enhance your dance skills!

So what can you expect from the dance classes? We asked Education and Community Engagement Manager, Amaya Santamaria, what students can expect to learn from the tap and jazz classes:

“We start with a warm-up, then usually do some across-the-floor exercises to practice some dance techniques and introduce new skills, and then get into the choreography!

“Students can expect a challenge regardless of their level, and some fun dancing to songs from various musicals. An important note is that, in most cases, they won’t necessarily be learning the actual Broadway choreography itself, but our instructors are professional dancers–you can trust them to create a fun routine!”

What type of music and choreography is included?

“The music for warm-ups tends to vary but the choreography is always to musical theatre songs. Musicals cover such a broad spectrum, you never know what you might get–you could be dancing to anything from The Lion King to Legally Blonde to Sweeney Todd!”

Our dance classes are taught by local professionals with years of dance experience

What skills do students leave with?

“Students will either leave with new dance skills or more polished versions of the steps they already knew. Students say the environment is welcoming, the choreography is fun, and that the teachers are knowledgeable and kind. Most of all, people are excited that there are classes for adults that aren’t just dance fitness.”

These classes are also helpful for those who are working on auditioning for a dance-heavy show, those who want to expand their skills, or folks who just want to get back into the swing of dancing.

If dancing to musical theatre, honing your flap ball changes, or getting on your feet sounds like fun, take a leap of faith by trying out a new class! Students have two options for dance classes:

  1. Beginner or Intermediate Tap, Sep. 8 – Oct. 13
  2. Beginner or Intermediate Jazz, Oct. 26 – November 16

Spaces fill up fast so make sure to register at broadwayrose.org/education. Ages 18+ are welcome. $20 drop-in-class rates are available in addition to purchasing the class packs.
