Volunteers are a vital part of Broadway Rose’s success. As a non-profit, the theatre relies on volunteers to help in various aspects of its functioning: from performance support to administrative assistance, our volunteers can apply their skills in a hands-on experience in the arts.

Volunteer Patsy Britton has been involved with Broadway Rose since 2002. As an integral part of the Theatre Guild and a dedicated volunteer, she has seen the theatre grow in the past two decades. “My favorite part about volunteering is sharing Broadway Rose with people who love Broadway Rose as much as I do,” said Patsy. The tight-knit community of our volunteers and the Guild are at the heart of Broadway Rose’s mission to create unparalleled musical theatre experiences that invigorate audiences and enrich our communities.

Serving also allows volunteers to meet new people and share the joy of live theatre. “When the pandemic was over, I couldn’t wait to get back to volunteering and seeing all the people that I have met through the theatre,” explained Patsy. “Ushering allows me to greet patrons at the door and see their smiles when they’re leaving.” Not only do performance volunteers get to see a free show, but they also get to serve as the face of Broadway Rose and be ambassadors of the theatre company.

Patsy is also a dedicated audience member. In addition to purchasing tickets, she also gets to see each show a second time after she volunteers. This combined experience of sitting in the theater and interacting with patrons has allowed her to gain a well-rounded theatre knowledge. “I was so excited when Broadway Rose went year-round as I now get to enjoy live performances that make me happy six times a year,” said Patsy. Working to enrich the region’s cultural life and increase opportunities for Oregonians to participate in the arts, Broadway Rose is proud to bring six mainstage shows each season in addition to our youth productions.

Building relationships and supporting art and artists is what the theatre is all about, and we are so grateful to our volunteers for being a part of that mission!
